Mailman School of Public Health in New York City, seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of
Senior Laboratory Advisor for a comprehensive, multi-year U.S. government-supported HIV/AIDS care and treatment support program focused on the north regions (Adamawa, North, Far North) of Cameroon.
The Senior Laboratory Advisor reports to the ICAP Cameroon Technical Director and s/he is expected to be based in Ngaoundere, Adamawa region.
The Senior Laboratory Advisor is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support to all laboratory aspects of the project and to work in close collaboration with the CDC Cameroon laboratory partner (Global Health Systems and Solutions or GHSS) to optimize GHSS’ impact to improve the quality of HIV/TB laboratory services across ICAP-supported clinical service delivery sites in the three regions. The Advisor will focus his/her support to ongoing quality control/quality assurance activities, to improving point of care testing practices in different clinical environments and to viral load (VL) testing at identified VL testing platforms.
Successful candidates will hold an advanced degree in laboratory sciences or related field, be proficient in English and French (proficiency in Fulani preferred), a very good working knowledge of the Cameroon health system and associated laboratory networks and possess at least 8 years of experience in HIV-related clinical laboratory technology applications and the provision of laboratory-based technical assistance and support in resource-limited settings.
