Company: Plan International
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.
Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.
We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.
We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.
The Education in Emergencies (EiE) Specialist provides technical and strategic leadership to the Emergency Team in Cameroon on education response and recovery. You will be responsible in assisting vulnerable children affected by conflict to receive quality basic education in child-friendly and safe environments. You will be responsible for assessment, response analysis, design/revision and implementation of the Education component of Plan’s emergency response in the Far North of Cameroon.
Do you have what it takes?
In order to succeed in this challenging role you will need demonstrable experience working in Education in Emergency or with children at risk in fragile and challenging environments. You will also need proven experience in leading assessment activities and of designing, managing, monitoring and evaluating education programs in emergencies for international NGOs. You will also know how to apply relevant interagency humanitarian frameworks and standards in education in emergencies (for example INEE Minimum Standards). In addition, you will need to be committed to working through systems of community participation and accountability. Knowing how to represent, including Cluster coordination, and the ability to represent Plan International Niger effectively in external forums will be crucial in succeeding in this role. Finally, experience in complex decision making and working in a multi-disciplinary, multi-national team under difficult circumstances is required.
