JOB ANNOUNCEMENT- Assistant Programs Officer (Full time)

 

About the position

This full-time position will be based at the Cameroon country office of the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation country office in  Yaoundé. The mission of The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation is to catalyze Cameron’s and Africa’s socio-economic transformation by focusing on social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health and the implementation of progressive policies that together creates economic opportunities for all.

Job description:

We are seeking an exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills candidate for the role of Assistant Programs Officer (APO). Under the direction of the Programs Director, the Programs Assistant provides effective and efficient operational and administrative assistance to Management (Director of Programs and the Chief Operating Officer) as well as  other Programs Staff to  ensure smooth program delivery.

He/she will also perform a variety of administrative, coordination and logistical services in support of the operations of  Programs (including monitoring and evaluation), grants and assists with key data and information management of the programs team to ensure quality in projects implementation.

 Key responsibilities

 

Management and Administration

  • Provide effective and efficient support to the Programs team to ensure smooth program delivery
  • Provide administrative, logistical and information management assistance to the Chief Operating officer and Director of Programs and other team members, as well as planning and coordination of team activities (meetings, workshops, travel budgets).

 Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Implement Activity Monitoring and Evaluation within Foretia Foundation to capture project performance results,
  • Collect and verify quantitative and qualitative data,
  • Compile written documentation on activities, indicators and results for progress and annual reports as appropriate,
  • Participate in the development of an internal tracking systems to monitor the evolution of project activities,
  • Help organize events in collaboration with the other program members.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Project management, Management, Business Administration, International Development or a related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation experience with a Non-Profit Organization;
  • English and French languages proficiency
  • Good report writing and documentation skills
  • Willing to work toward the attainment of project objectives and deliverables; Conscientious;
  • Excellent communication skills: speaking, writing, and listening
  • Proven ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple ongoing assignments
  • Demonstrated critical thinking in situation of ambiguity to deliver results
  • Experience with quantitative analysis and statistical, spreadsheet, and/or database software, such as Excel
